015UC – A Simple Fireplace Feature Enhanced with Natural Wood

Category

Fireplace Project

Year

2025

Location

Port Moody

This fireplace project by Pacific Living Contracting created a warm and understated focal point within an open living and kitchen area.

Rather than building a large stone feature wall, the design uses a clean wall-mounted fireplace with a substantial custom natural edge wood mantel above it. The result is simple, practical and visually connected to the natural materials used throughout the surrounding space.

Project Brief

The fireplace is integrated directly into the living room wall, creating a defined feature without taking up significant floor space. The simple black fireplace surround provides a strong contrast against the warm neutral wall, while the fire itself adds a natural point of warmth to the room. The relatively minimal treatment allows the fireplace to complement rather than compete with the adjacent kitchen.

Project Result

A Warm, Contemporary Finish The finished fireplace combines clean contemporary lines with natural materials. The black fireplace surround provides definition, while the dark natural edge wood adds texture and individuality. Together with the warm hardwood floor and neutral walls, the finished feature creates a comfortable and cohesive living environment.

Scope: Fireplace Renovation · Fireplace Installation · Custom Natural Edge Mantel · Natural Edge Woodwork · Fireplace Finishing · Finish Carpentry
