002KE – Warm Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

Langley St.
From a Traditional Oak Kitchen to a Bright, Warm Modern Farmhouse
This kitchen renovation in Langley, BC transformed a traditional wood kitchen into a bright, functional, and inviting space with a warm modern farmhouse character.
Completed by Pacific Living Contracting, the renovation focused on more than simply updating finishes. The kitchen was reworked to improve functionality, increase usable workspace, modernize storage, and create a lighter environment for everyday cooking and gathering.
Project Brief
The existing kitchen had plenty of cabinetry and natural light, but the darker finishes and peninsula configuration made the space feel visually heavy and less connected. The new design takes a cleaner approach. Soft neutral cabinetry runs throughout the kitchen, while white countertops and backsplash reflect natural and artificial light. A large central island creates additional preparation space and provides a practical place for casual seating. The result is a kitchen that feels larger, brighter, and more contemporary while retaining the warmth of a residential farmhouse aesthetic.
Project Result
The finished kitchen combines elements of modern and farmhouse design without becoming overly rustic.
Shaker cabinetry provides the traditional foundation, while black hardware, stainless-steel appliances, streamlined countertops, and contemporary lighting introduce a more modern character.
Warm wood-look flooring helps soften the predominantly white and neutral palette and connects the kitchen with the surrounding living spaces.
The result is a warm modern farmhouse kitchen that feels fresh while remaining comfortable and practical.
